Signs of Summer

Fresh laundry on the line (the line I finally put up. Hey, it's only July).

Middlebrow using his brand new jigsaw to finish remodeling the bathroom and save our marriage. Let's hear it for Middlebrow!

The building of, and nightly sleeping in, the bedroom fort, using, of course, a sleeping bag.

I love the idea and smell of laundry on a line, parting the sheets and wandering through....but I hate to hang it out in the hot sun.

Bedroom fort! That's awesome! When I lived in an apartment with all my kids (a very complex story with some darker undertones, but leaving them aside), one of the bedrooms had a kind of big closet that became a sort of fort. We put up those glow in the dark stars all over the walls and ceiling. It was very cool. Also stuffy, but leaving that aside.

Sawing, laundering, fort-building! You should start your own DYI show!

OK, I'm not convinced about laundry on the line. I did it a few times but the clothes came in all stiff. Did I do something wrong? Leave them out in the hot sun too long so they baked into shells of their former selves?

It's true that line drying doesn't produce the rumply softness of dryer drying. On the other hand, no shrinking! and an enhanced sense of your own virtue, further amplified by your stiff clothes!
